How do we explain the Asian American experience?  Some of our parents had to swim, travel by boat, and stay in refugee camps in order to make a new life here. Some of our parents had to start from scratch, finding jobs and learning one of the most complex languages in the world. Some of us grew up with an over-emphasis in education, corporal punishment, and a much more blunted form of emotional attachment. Some of us were able to do well in school, get a good job, and support the myth that as Asians, we are smart and successful.  Yet, that also comes with challenges that we have been taught to either ignore or face alone.

We can confront your barriers together. If you are struggling with the model minority stereotype, we can challenge and reframe it. If it is intergenerational trauma, we can process it and figure out how to embrace what you have been through while focusing on the future. If it is a cultural clash between you and your parents/grandparents, we can find a healthy medium. If you are trying to figure out your own bi-cultural identity, we can figure it out together.

I am not trying to make you more American or more Asian. I am trying to help you become the best you and bring out the best of both worlds.
